Movie Of The Month: The Sound Of Music.

The Sound of Music.

The nun with a switchblade: How Julie Andrews' bleak childhood made her…

Genre: Biography.

Rating: G.

Original release date: March 29, 1965.

Running Time: 174.

A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.

Beautiful movie! And if you like musicals, you will like this one!

Christmas Movie List.

To start off December I thought I’d do a fun post about some movies my family and I always watch at this time of year! Sooooooo, here it goes!

White Christmas

White Christmas, Bing Crosby, ... | Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney deck the halls in this Yuletide classic.

Genre: Comedy.

Rating: Not Rated.

Original release date: October 14, 1954.

Running time: 120.

Two talented song-and-dance men (Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye) team up after the war to become one of the hottest acts in show business. Once winter they join forces with a sister act (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen) and trek to Vermont for a white Christmas. The result is stuff dreams are made of.

A Christmas Carol

The Patrick Stewart version is my favorite of the newer adaptations. ~K

Genre: Drama, Fantasy.

Rated: PG.

Original release date: Can’t find.

Running time: 94.

Patrick Stewart (X-Men, Star Trek: The Next Generation) stars a Scrooge, the mean-spirited miser who gets his terrifying comeuppance when he imagines he’s visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and taken on a life-altering journey. Spellbinding special effects, a star-dudded cast, and a timeless holiday story make this brilliant presentation of Dickens’classic the most heartwarming, compelling and powerful adaption ever filmed.

The Bishops Wife

The Bishop's Wife, 1947

Heavenly bells are ringing, jubilant choirs are singing and Christmas joy is blanketing the world like freshly fallen snow. But the Yuletide spirit has yet to warm Bishop Henry Broughams Victorian home. Struggling to raise funds for a new cathedral, the preoccupied young clergyman has neglected his loving wife Julia, and now only divine intervention can save their marriage. But the powerful and handsome angel sent from above has his a mind of his own……and teaching mortal Henry immortal lesson in romance isn’t all he’s got planned! Starring Oscar* winners* Cary Grant, Loretta Young and David Niven, and featuring “a stellar supporting cast” (The Hollywood Reporter) that includes James Gleason and Monty Woolley, this delightful romantic comedy is wondrous, witty and truly divine!

Genre: Comedy.

Rated: Not Rated.

Original release date: February 16, 1948.

Running time: 109.

It’s A Wonderful Life

It's a Wonderful Life (1946) - Pictures, Photos & Images - IMDb

No one is born to be a failure. No one is poor who has friends. Simple thoughts that were the inspiration for one of the richest, most uplifting, most beloved American films ever made. Frank Capra’s classic tale of George Bailey and his Christmas Eve visit with a guardian angel was nominated for five Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. After more than 50 years it remains as powerful and moving as the day it was made.

Genre: Drama.

Rated: PG.

Original release date: January 7, 1947.

Running time: 130.

So, there ya go! If you haven’t seen some of them you should definitely check them out!

We used to live in the suburbs and when we lived there we would go to this restaurant called Maggianos. They had Italian food. We would go every Christmas Eve. Then we’d go to the Christmas Eve service. But now that we live in the country, we can’t do that anymore. (they don’t have any of them around here). So we started to make our own Italian food. So we started an event and we call it the Italian Feast. We’ve been doing it for the past 4 years, we invite friends and it’s so much fun!!
