Hamilton | The Musical

*DISCLAIMER: This is a very long post*

Hey friends!

Today’s post is pretty exciting for me! 🙂

For my birthday (November 1st) my parents got me tickets to see my favorite musical Hamilton! My dad, my brother Stephen and I went to see it at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago on November 12th! (just a few days ago 😄)

I’m going to tell you about our time there and do a little review on the musical!

First! We went to dinner at Pizano’s Pizza and Pasta!

They had the most delicious pizza and cheesesticks 😋😍

(I forgot to take pics of the food 😢)

Our waiter was so kind! He found out that it was my birthday celebration and brought a dessert for my birthday!!! And man was it GOOD! It was a cookie covered in ice cream and then whipped cream on the top of it! 🤤

After dinner we headed to the theatre!

The amazing Hamilton sign 😍

I was jumping up and down with excitement! I would have more pictures but, it was 11 degrees out 😳 so ya know 😂

Then we went inside because it was freezing. There was a big crowd of people waiting in the tiny lobby. We were all squished in to keep warm 😂 I didn’t get a picture of the crowd but I did get this picture of the pretty lobby!

We had to wait in the lobby for about 15 mins and then they finally let us in. They scanned our tickets and then we headed to the balcony! We had to wait another 10-15 mins for the house to open.

They gave us our playbills and we found our seats! Our view:

This place was FULL when it started! And this musical has been out for almost 5 years. People are still obsessed with it. And it can get pretty expensive to get tickets.

Took a selfie with our playbills of course! 😁

Then we took some more pictures:

My handsome dates 😍🤩

Now for my review on the musical!

For the people who don’t know here is the summary:

Hamilton: An American Musical is a sung-and-rapped through musical about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, with music, lyrics and book by Lin-Manuel Miranda, inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by historian Ron Chernow.

So if you’re not a fan of rapping, you might not be a fan of Hamilton. But I LOVE it!

A warning, there are a few instances of swearing in this musical. So I would talk to your parents before listening and making sure they are ok with it. There is a clean version which cuts out the really bad ones.

Also, not everything in it is exactly true. Some of the stuff didn’t happen. I suggest reading about Alexander Hamilton so you know what’s actually true in it.

The talent in the musical is unbelievable. The people are truly talented singers. And if you see it live it’s even more amazing and the dancers are AMAZING! The ensemble is amazing. It honestly wouldn’t be good without them.

My favorite songs are Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down) and Right Hand Man. I can’t decide which was my favorite live. They were all so good 😅 Literally had goosebumps the whole time.

My reasons for loving Hamilton:

  • It’s a musical (I’m a sucker for musicals)
  • It’s very catchy
  • It’s historical
  • The talent is amazing

After the show:

We enjoyed it so much!!

Have you ever heard of Hamilton? Did you enjoy this post? Let me know in the comments!!!!

Love, Cassia

I loove musicals too, but I must admit, I wasn’t exactly swept away in the Hamilton frenzy because I’m not the biggest fan of rap 🙂 But I’m gonna give it a listen after this post!! 😀

  3. You look so beautiful! And that’s awesome. I’ve never seen it, but I love what I know. “You’ll Be Back” and “Alexander Hamilton” are my favorite songs. I love that rap-type-musical style, personally. Glad you got to go! You turned 16, yes?
